Coupon mom & son make care packages for homeless

image image imageCouponing mom, Amanda Hayes and her 8-year old son, Jakob have a special hobby.  They shop with coupons to save on care package items for the homeless.  Amanda shared a older picture of her ever-growing stockpile, “This is where we get stuff for our packages. It has grown, but that was a couple months ago!”

Amanda’s care packages include items such as bottled water, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner (little hotel size), bar soap, mouth wash, cough drops, aspirin, cereal bar, and a granola bar… with Jakob’s special contribution, gum.

“He drew pictures [on the care packages], around Thanksgiving and Christmas time! I thought it was so sweet of him!”, said the proud mom.

People Acting Weird When Offered Coupons

coupons2Have you ever offered a stranger a coupon and they acted weird about accepting it?

I recently posted that question to Facebook Friends on MsCouponista.com. Here are some of my favorite answers:

  • Rhonda Mazzon Yup. Offered an old guy $2 in coupons and he acted like they were infected and wouldn’t take them!!
  • Deborah Miller All the time, I think people are just leery of free stuff from strangers -LOL.
  • Angie Ferrell Yes, you would have thought I asked to pick her nose for her!!!
  • Heather Anderson I have friends and family that say couponing isn’t worth their time, they don’t even want me to give them coupons. I say a penny saved is a penny earned!

Are You A Seasonal Couponer?

girlshoppingAre you a seasonal couponer? Do your couponing habits change with the weather?

I recently posted that question to Facebook Friends on MsCouponista.com. Here are some of my favorite answers:

  • Shirelle Williams I usually do a extreme shopping trip before summer because kids being out of school. I don’t want to take a lot of time away from going out had having fun.
  • Larissa Ruiz I wouldn’t say I’m a seasonal couponer, but it’s definitely harder to find time to clip – LOL – love the warm weather
  • Brooke Kathleen Nope I’m at it all year. Biggest thing is I have 7 cats and my neighbor has 5 cats and 4 dogs, so I am very OCD about couponing. The other things on sale add to the excitement.

Have You Ever Taken a “Break” from Couponing?

Have You Ever Taken a “Break” from Couponing? Why or Why Not?

I recently posted that question to Facebook Friends on MsCouponista.com. Here are some of my favorite answers:

  • Gary-Cheryl Heikkila I have cut back for weeks at a time… only doing free or grocery deals when I need a break.. .easy to get burned out.
  • Pam Robles Absolutely not!! I cannot imagine ever taking a break from saving money!
  • Jo Fela well, what I have done, in the past, is take my box of coupon inserts and hide them in the garage: this way I didn’t have to look at them for a day or two.
  • Brandon-Sally Cox Done! For now that is. Got everything we need plus some. Being courteous to other couponers out there without a mass stockpile like mine! Lol
